A multi-year partnership, not a one-off build

Handball Australia runs Play Handball, a national participation program introducing Olympic handball to schools and communities across the country.

Manon has personal history with the sport, having represented Australia in handball herself. So when Handball Australia needed a partner for the digital side of the program, this one was never going to be just another project.

/ Play Handball national participation program

The starting point: growing a sport before 2032.

With the Brisbane 2032 Olympics ahead, Handball Australia needed a new project to grow the sport nationally. Play Handball was created in partnership with the Australian Olympic Committee, Sport Australia and the Australian Sports Commission.

A national participation program is an unusual thing to build a website for. It has to speak to a kid's parents, a PE teacher planning next term, and a would-be coach, all at once, in a sport most Australians have never played. Each of them needs a different answer, and none of them will dig for it.

And it has to keep working between campaigns. Participation doesn't grow in bursts. It grows when finding a program and signing up is easy every single week of the year.

Not a single project. A multi-year working relationship built on trust.

The decisions that mattered

Branding and a site
built as a program hub

Schools, coaches, players

Creative Baguette developed the Play Handball branding and built the website as a hub for every program. What is handball, the introductory program, where to play, and a dedicated Schools & Coaches Hub each get their own clear path, so a parent, a teacher and a future coach never wade through each other's content.

Ongoing technical
and social media support

Consistent presence, not a one-off post

Continued technical support and social media management keep the program visible between campaigns and events, not just at launch moments. Sport participation runs in seasons. Trust in the program can't afford to.

Signup automations,
Google Ads and SEO

The growth engine behind the scenes

We built automations between signup forms so an expression of interest never sits forgotten in an inbox, manage Google Ads campaigns and handle SEO, so the program keeps reaching new schools and players while the Handball Australia team focuses on delivery.

What shipped, and what runs every month.

The Play Handball site walks three audiences to three different doors. New players land on the 8-week Handball Introductory Program and a Where Can I Play section covering programs in Canberra, Bendigo, Sydney and Brisbane. Teachers and coaches get their own Schools & Coaches Hub.

Anyone not ready to commit can still raise a hand: Express Interest to Play and Express Interest to Teach forms capture people the program would otherwise lose, and the automations behind them make sure someone follows up.

Behind the scenes, we host and maintain both the Play Handball site and the main Handball Australia site, and run the program's social media month after month.

The result: a program with room to grow.

Play Handball is live and running, with introductory programs in Canberra, Bendigo, Sydney and Brisbane and a signup path for every audience. The relationship keeps going: hosting, maintenance, social media and ads, handled by one team that knows the program inside out.

Questions this project usually raises

Do you work with sports organisations and not-for-profits?

Yes.

Creative Baguette works with small businesses and organisations of all shapes, and Play Handball sits alongside our not-for-profit work. The need is the same everywhere: a clear site, easy signups, and someone looking after the tech.

What does ongoing support actually cover?

Hosting, maintenance, updates and changes, handled for you.

For Handball Australia it also covers social media management and Google Ads. The scope is up to you; the point is that nobody on your team has to become the website person.

How does a long-term partnership start?

Usually with one project.

Handball Australia started with branding and a website, and the social media, ads and automations came later, once the first piece of work had earned the trust. Start with the piece that hurts most.
