What's actually included in a web design package?

"Web design package" is one of the vaguest phrases in the industry, on purpose sometimes. Two quotes can both say "package" and mean completely different things.

Here's what should actually be itemised, so you can tell a real package from a headline price with extras bolted on.

What a proper package includes

The pages themselves, agreed up front, not "up to X pages" with no list of which ones.

The words, written for you, not "structured from what you provide" (which means you're still doing the writing). You shouldn't have to produce a word: you talk, the designer writes. That's how we do it, and if copywriting isn't included, that's a real cost most people don't budget for.

Revisions, clearly defined, not "reasonable amendments" (undefined, and a common source of scope arguments later). A number is the minimum. Ours are unlimited: we refine until you're happy, and if you're not happy, we don't go live.

The visuals. Depending on the package, professional photos and videos should be sourced or created for you, not left as homework that stalls the launch.

Mobile-first build, not mobile as an afterthought. This shouldn't be an add-on in 2026; if it's listed separately, ask why.

Basic SEO setup: page titles, meta descriptions, a sitemap submitted to Google. Structural, not a ranking promise.

Launch support: domain connection, redirects if you're replacing an old site, and someone checking it actually works on your phone before calling it done.

Ask any quote: "if I need one more page after we start, what happens?" A clear answer (a fixed per-page rate, or it's already covered) means a real package. A vague answer means the headline price was never the real price.
